These shots were all taken on our various hikes in our wonderful province. We've only just begun to take pictures of the wildflowers. I've just put some tags on them for now. Carol will eventually identify all of them for you. These are tiny files. If you like a full sized file of any of these pictures, just drop us an email and we'll send it along to you.

All of the thumbnails above were taken on a simple walk through the field up above our street. Click to enlarge.

All of the thumbnails above were taken during our trip up the Great Northern Peninsula, June 2005. Click to enlarge. We'll be adding them below after we've done our homework.

Signs of Spring! Maybe! Click on any thumbnail to see it full sized.

Newfoundland and Labrador Wildflowers

This is one of the earliest wildflowers of the year, Colt's Foot. (May 6, 2005 - Lomond Campground)

__________

This is a mystery flower. It appeared in mid-May, lasted about a week. It was suggested it was a May Flower. A logical suggestion, but it doesn't fit.

__________

Beachhead Iris

This picture  was taken on our hike to the Botanical Gardens at Raleigh on the GNP.

__________

Several of these pictures, though were not sure which ones, are of exceedingly rare plants.

__________

These, I think, are just ordinary BlueBells. But Carol will fix all my mistakes somewhere along the line.

__________

Rhodora, taken on the Lookout Trail, behind the Discovery Centre, Gros Morne National Park

__________

Lady Slipper

Showy Lady Slipper, taken on the trail to Baker's Brook Falls.

Partridgeberries and Caribou Moss

Partridge Berries, Terra Nova National Park

Partridgeberries, Terra Nova National Park

__________

Carol tells me these aren't really wildflowers. This is an English Daisy that "escaped" from a garden that once existed at Lomond.

__________

River Beauty

These wild flowers were all growing in the rocks, as do many Newfoundland flowers.

__________

Hairy Willow or Rock Willow

This makes a lovely wallpaper.

__________

Sandwort or Pearlwort

This is one of our favourite pictures. Such tiny, delicate flowers growing (and surviving) in the rocks.  It's kind of symbolic of this province.

__________

Pink Lady Slippers, taken on the Lookout Trail behind the Discovery Centre, Gros Morne National Park. These are pink Lady Slippers. There are other kinds in the park.

__________

Marsh Cinquefoil

Taken on the Green Point Trail.

__________

Partridgeberries and caribou moss - Sandy Pond

__________

Bunchberries or Crackerberries

There are lots of opportunities to do still lifes from driftwood and wild flowers.

__________

Clasping Twistedstalk

These are delicate little berries growing singly under these leaves (we turned them over).

__________

Balsom Fir

Looks like a Christmas decoration doesn't it?

__________

This was taken just below the Lighthouse at Lobster Cove Head. They are Bird's Eye Primrose.

__________

Cow Parsley (I think)

Cow parsnip. Taken on the trail to Baker's Brook Falls.

__________

This is Bull Thistle. Green Point Trail.

__________
