The Tree of Memories

I don't know if the lighting of the Tree of
Memories marks the official start of the Christmas Season here in
Pasadena, but it feels like it.
Last night the tree was lit in front of
Philly's Cafe who are running the tree off their power this year. The
turnout was typical Pasadena, large and enthusiastic. The Salvation
Army band played a few Christmas tunes and carols for us. Hot chocolate
was served in the Cafe after the ceremony, and then off everyone went to
the church hall of St. David's for additional celebration and snacks.
It seems that that's all we do in Pasadena. Eat. But I'm sure it's
more than that that brings us together.
Next
week we'll have our Santa Claus Parade. With a little snow over the next
few days (but rain on Wednesday :-( ) it should be exceptionally
nice.
Today there's some volunteer work being
done at the Pasadena Ski and Nature Park. If you haven't been up there
lately, you'll see that the old waxing shed has been completely renovated
and upgraded to be more functional and to blend more with the new lodge.
There's a big breakfast event there on December 20th.
Lights are starting to go up around town.
With the fresh snow, this weekend will be the start of a lovely time for
some evening walks. Wear your creepers.

There are a few additional shots of the
Tree of Memories HERE.
